Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

Defense let the Sports down Tuesday as the Ft. Worth Cats won the opening game of the second half of the season over Shreveport 6-4. The Sports committed three errors, one in the ninth inning by right fielder Tommy Bryant and Ft. Worth broke a 4-4 tie, scoring two runs to win the contest. Shreveport had taken a 4-3 lead by scoring three runs in the sixth inning, only to have the Cats to score an unearned run in the seventh on an error by left fielder Terrence McClain that tied the game at 4-4. The leagues leading hitter Ron Fenwick had three hits to lead the Sports, but it wasn't enough to overcome the errors. The Sports and Ft. Worth will meet in the second game of the three-game series Wednesday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 with the broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
