X's Slip past Kansas City in the Ninth

Kansas City, KS-----The Explorers scored two runs in the ninth inning to defeat Kansas City here Tuesday 6-4.
With the scored tied a 4-4 in the ninth and one-out, Brian Bistange walked and went to third on a double by Peter Barrows, his fourth hit of the game. Kansas City relief pitcher and losing hurler Steve Kent uncorked a wild pitch to allow Bistange to score the go-ahead run. With Barrows at third, Kris Sanchez drove him home with a sacrifice fly to give the Explorers a two-run lead.
Chris Bodishbaugh pitched the final two innings in relief to pick up his fifth win of the season.
Kansas City took the early lead 2-0 with runs in the first and second inning. Barrows led off the fourth with his third home run of the year to cut the lead to 2-1. The Explorers scored two runs in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead, but Kansas City regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth with two runs. The Explorers tied the game in the sixth inning and the contest remained tied until the ninth when the X's scored twice.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by the T-Bones as the Explorers evened the series at a game apiece. The final game of the three-game series will be Wednesday at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City with game time set for 7:05.
