Coombs' Solid Outing Leads RailCats to 3-2 Win

QUEBEC CITY, QC - Morgan Coombs picked up his first win since June 11 and Matt Forgatch hit a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning to push the RailCats to a 3-2 win over the Capitales on Tuesday night.

With the 'Cats trailing 2-1, Brian Kolb and Mike Rohde hit back-to-back doubles to start the seventh inning and tie the game at two. With one out and the infield in, Forgatch pulled a single through the left side to put the 'Cats in front 3-2.

RailCats starting pitcher Morgan Coombs (3-5) snapped a six-start winless streak, holding Quebec to two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. Chris Allen struck out the side in order in the ninth inning to pick up his fifth save.

Sebastien Boucher hit a two-out solo homer off of Coombs in the first inning to put Quebec on top 1-0.

Forgatch hit a sac fly in the second inning to tie the game at one. The Capitales came right back in the bottom of the second, taking a 2-1 lead on an RBI single by Rony Rodriguez.

Quebec starter Karl Gelinas (6-3) gave up three runs on six hits in seven frames for the loss.

The series rubber match is on Wednesday night at 6:05 p.m. Central time. Tyler Deetjen (1-1, 4.32) will be on the bump for Gary.
