
X's rally to drop El Paso

SIOUX CITY - The Sioux City Explorers rallied in the eighth inning to drop the El Paso Diablos, 6-5, Thursday night at Lewis and Clark Park. The win improves the X's overall record to 37-39 (13-15 second half), and the loss drops the Diablos to 25-46 (8-15 second half).
Billy Keppinger (9-3) started for the X's and went eight innings. Keppinger allowed 11 hits, five runs, no walks and struck out two. Keppinger allowed four runs in the third, settled down, but allowed a home run in the eighth. Dustin Cameron (3-3) came in relief to pitch the eighth inning and took the loss. Cameron faced seven batters, gave up two hits, three runs, walked one, struck out one, and hit one. Sean Kramer threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 13th save of the season.
Zack Pace, who sparked the eighth inning rally with a single, was 2-4 with one run scored. Jake Daubert was 1-2, with two RBIs, and Chris Grossman was 0-3, but scored twice and drove in one. Mike Richardson added two hits, and Alex Llanos and Kevin Henry each had one hit.
The X's and Diablos will square off on Friday night, as the City of Sioux City celebrates its 152nd Birthday with $1.50 tickets at Lewis and Clark Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., with Nate Holguin (3-1) taking the mound for the X's and Jose Garcia (1-3) starting for the Diablos.
