@ Pensacola, FL. Time: 2:43 Attendance: 1,302

W: Carl Scheafer (3-2) L: Aaron Kirkland (2-3) S: Tony Pierce (18)

HR: PN-Juan Rocha (8)

Pensacola got some good pitching and a big solo home run from RF Juan Rocha in the eighth inning to put away Shreveport and improve to 9-17 in the second half. Shreveport wasn't short on good pitching either. Both teams saw their starter pitch through six innings and Bert Snow of the Sports allowed the only earned run that either of them gave up. In the end though, it was Rocha's homer than sank Shreveport after a walk in the top of the eighth had forced home a run to tie the game at 2-2. Rocha finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in to lead the Pelicans at the plate. 2B/LF Ed Montague and 1B Tim Dorn also had two hits each for Pensacola to help the team to the victory.

W: Pedro Flores (5-3) L: Ryan Weems (2-6) S: NONE HR: NONE

Coastal Bend picked up a win against Fort Worth to close to within two games of first place in the South Division thanks to an impressive offensive performance. The Aviators pounded out 15 hits in the game and every person in the Coastal Bend lineup had at least one. Six others had two, led by RF Pat Sullivan and 3B Hector Garanzuay who were 2-for-4 and 2-for-5, respectively. The two combined to score three runs and drive in four more. The beneficiary of such support was Coastal Bend starting pitcher Pedro Flores who allowed three runs, none earned, and scattered nine hits while striking out six in 6 2/3 innings to win his fifth game of the year. Fort Worth also had a solid game offensively, getting multi-hit games from four different players, led by CF Jordan Foster who was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.

The win for Sioux City improves its record to 13-15 in the second half while the loss drops El Paso to 8-15. Keppinger allowed five runs, all earned, on 11 hits through eight innings of work. But after trailing for most of the game the Explorers' bats awoke just in time to make up for being out-hit 11-7. Each of the first three hitters in the El Paso lineup went 2-for-4, led by RF Carlos Sepulveda who hit his third home run of the year and finished the night with two runs scored and a run batted in.

Three separate players recorded three hits and a total of seven had at least two. C Kevin Sullivan also homered, his third, and drove in three in a 2-for-2 night at the plate. @ St. Joseph, MO. Time: 2:50 Attendance: 922

W: Jamie Tricoglou (5-3) L: Lenny Bays (1-3) S: NONE

HR: NONE In a game that came down to the wire, the St. Joe Blacksnakes answered a game-tying run in the ninth by Sioux Falls with a game-winning run in the home half of the inning. Canaries LF/1B Abner Arroyo and 1B Bubba Smith hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game at 2-2 in the ninth, only to be upstaged by the heroics of 2B Denver Kitch, who hit a double of his own to score RF Wil Quintana all the way from first base and improve the Blacksnakes to .500 in the second half at 13-13. The win, combined with a St. Paul loss, has St. Joe alone in second place in the North Division, five games behind first place Lincoln.
