
X's Lose Long Game

Fargo, ND- The Sioux City Explorers and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were forced to put the game on hold with the score tied at 3-3 after 16 innings of play, due to the (12:00 midnight) curfew.
Fargo-Moorhead recorded the first two runs in the bottom of the first. An RBI single by Josh Mazzola and a fielder's choice gave the RedHawks the early 2-0 lead.
The score would remain 2-0 until the top of the eighth inning. X's first baseman Matt Koch cranked a solo-shot to put Sioux City on the board and cut the lead to only one run.
In the ninth, Explorers tied the game at 2-2. Tommy Mendonca worked up a lead-off walk, advanced to second on a Jarek Cunningham base-hit, and scored on an error by the catcher.
X's reliever Rob Wort pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth, forcing extra innings with the score tied at 2-2.
The score would stay tied at 2-2 through fifteen innings of play. In the sixteenth, Matt Koch reached base-on-balls and scored from first base on an RBI single by X's centerfielder Matty Johnson to take the crucial 3-2 lead.
Fargo-Moorhead tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixteenth. Due to (12:00 midnight) curfew, the Sioux City Explorers and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will resume Tuesday's game at 6:00 on Wednesday.
GAME RESUMED AT 6:00 ON WEDNESDAY
Sioux City took the lead in the top of the seventeenth inning. Nate Samson singled and advanced to second on an error by the left fielder, moved to third on a fly-out to left, and scored on a Tim Colwell RBI single to take the 4-3 lead.
In the bottom of the seventeenth, Fargo-Moorhead chalked up two runs to get the 5-4 victory over the Explorers in seventeen innings. Ryan Wagner scored the tying run on a fielder's choice. RedHawks third baseman Josh Mazzola knocked in the winning run at third base on a walk-off RBI single.
Explorers left-hander Cody Forsythe, finished with a no decision, going seven solid innings with only two runs allowed while striking out nine batters. X's right-hander Ryan Zimmerman (2-5) was charged with the loss, allowing the winning run to score in the seventeenth inning.
Fargo-Moorhead's starter Will Mathis had a solid outing on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings with five strikeouts but wound up with a no decision on the night. RedHawks lefty Tyler Alexander (6-2) received the win for Fargo-Moorhead.
