WICHITA MAKES IT 3 STRAIGHT

The Wichita Wingnuts won their third in a row Tuesday night, dispatching the Texas AirHogs 6-2 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. After three scoreless innings on both sides, the AirHogs opened the scoring on a solo homer by Burt Reynolds, his league-leading 16th long ball of the year. Wichita answered right back in the home half, as Martin Medina launched his first home run as a Wingnut, a two-run shot, to put the home team in front 2-1. The Wingnuts doubled their lead in the next inning, as Dustin Geiger brought home a pair with a two-out single. Texas got a run closer in the sixth, but again Wichita had an answer, with RBI knocks from Zack Cox and Brent Clevlen. Those two run-scoring hits provided the final runs of the night, as both pitching staffs regained control over the late innings. Wichita starter Tim Brown collected his second straight quality start and win, allowing two runs over his six innings of work. Behind him, rookie Jesse Pratt came in and was lights out, retiring all nine AirHogs he faced to close out the game and record his first professional save.

CLEVLEN ROCKS

With his RBI double in the bottom of the sixth last night, Brent Clevlen collected his 28th RBI of the season and 200th in a Wingnut uniform, a franchise record. A former second pick of the Detroit Tigers, Clevlen has spent parts of five different seasons in Wichita, and owns several of the franchise's career records. In addition to leading in RBIs, the Austin, Texas, native also owns the franchise records for home runs (53), doubles (82), and total bases (597). Clevlen is also in the top three for runs scored (3rd, 202), hits (2nd, 327), walks (2nd, 139), games played (3rd, 257), and at-bats (3rd, 1,000). The 32-year old is closing in on the hits record, as he is just 14 shy of tying Josh Horn's Wingnuts record of 341 knocks.

PRATT'S FIRST SAVE

Rookie Jesse Pratt collected his first professional save last night, retiring all nine he faced in three perfect innings. The righty now owns a 3.03 ERA in 26.2 innings this season, and he has now kept the opposition scoreless in eight of his last nine appearances.
