Sioux City, IA: Chris Swiatkiewicz gave the X's seven solid innings of work and left with a one-run lead, but the X's couldn't hold the lead in the late innings and wound up losing by one to the Saltdogs.

The X's started the game out with a bang in the first inning when Jeremy Smith and Jose Malave both doubled which was followed by a Desi Wilson single that gave Sioux City a 2-to-0 lead. From that point, the Saltdogs rallied back and picked up a run in the forth inning and followed that up with a pair of runs in the sixth.

The Explorers rallied back in the seventh with a pair of runs coming from Jeremy Smith and Ryan Ruiz RBI singles that gave the X's a 4-to-3 lead. Things went downhill the following inning when the Saltdogs picked up a pair of runs that gave them a lead they would not let go of.

The X's and Saltdogs will resume with game two of this series tomorrow night with a 7:05 contest.
