FARGO, N.D. - The Joliet JackHammers pounded out 13 hits en route to a 9-3 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Tuesday night in front of 5,059 fans at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. It was the ninth sellout of the season for the RedHawks. Joliet improved to 32-40 overall and 13-15 in the second half. Fargo-Moorhead dipped to 48-24 overall and 16-11 in the second half.
The JackHammers were led by Troy Cameron, who finished the night 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Les Norman was 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Ryan Sienko was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Fargo-Moorhead was led by Ruben Salazar, who drilled a two-run home run that gave the RedHawks a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Brian Ward was 2-for-3 on the night.
Joliet starting pitcher Brian Mazone (2-2) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits to earn the victory. He struck out five batters and did not walk any RedHawks hitters. RedHawks starter Mike Peschel (4-2) took the loss. He pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He struck out one and walked two.
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will continue their four-game series against the Joliet JackHammers on Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field.
