
Wynns Becomes Fifth Key to Receive Promotion

FREDERICK, Md. -Right before Friday's game, Keys catcher Austin Wynns was promoted to the Double-A Bowie Baysox. The 24-year-old becomes the fifth member of the orange and black to receive a promotion this season, and the fourth to advance to Double-A Bowie. In his Baysox debut on Friday night, Wynns went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts. In a corresponding move, Phil Llewellyn was received from Aberdeen.
In 36 games with Frederick, the former Fresno State product hit .250 with one home run and 16 RBIs in 36 games. He batted .254 with 10 RBIs in 20 May ballgames. Not his first go-round in Frederick, Wynns concluded 2014 in a Keys uniform, hitting .214 over five games.
Originally selected by Baltimore in the 10th round of the 2013 draft, Wynns played 90 games between Frederick and Low-A Delmarva in 2014, combining to hit .251 with one homer, 37 RBIs and 17 doubles. In his first professional season, he was a New York-Penn League All-Star as a member of the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
In addition to Wynns, Dennis Torres, Jhonathan Ramos, Jarett Miller and Anthony Caronia (Triple-A) have received promotions this year.
Llewellyn has played two games with Frederick this season, going 2-for-9 with a double and a run scored.
The Frederick Keys begin a four-game series with the Lynchburg Hillcats on Saturday night. Left-hander Luis Gonzalez (3-3, 7.15) makes the start for the Keys and will be opposed right-hander Michael Peoples (3-3, 7.23). First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. from Nymeo Field and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source and frederickkeys.com.
