LAST TIME OUT: Winston-Salem used a five-run second inning to break a scoreless tie, and the Dash lead the rest of the way as they defeated the Hillcats, 8-1, at BB&T Ballpark Friday night...Winston-Salem sent nine men to the plate in the second inning to take a commanding lead...RHP DACE KIME worked a perfect first inning with only seven pitches but ran into trouble immediately in the second on back-to-back singles by 1B CHRIS JACOBS and C OMAR NARVAEZ...Two batters later, SS CLEULUIS RONDON singled home the first run of the game...Winston-Salem broke it open with a pair of two-out extra-base hits in the frame...First, DH T.J. WILLIAMS smacked a two-run triple down the right-field line to make it 3-0 in favor of the Dash. Later, 2B JAKE PETER hit a two-run double to push the margin to 5-0...RHP MATT HEIDENREICH shut down the Hillcats offense all evening, as Lynchburg's only run of the game was unearned in the third inning...SS IVAN CASTILLO reached on an error and advanced to second on a base hit by RF CLINT FRAZIER...With two outs, CF BRADLEY ZIMMER drove in the Hillcats' lone run of the contest with a single to left...Lynchburg had plenty of chances with at least one baserunner in every inning except the first, but the Hillcats could not bring any of them in and left 11 men on base...Leading 6-1 entering the eighth, PETER singled in front of 3B TREY MICHALCZEWSKI, who hit his fifth home run of the year to right field to give the Dash an 8-1 victory.

VS. FREDERICK: Lynchburg and Frederick will play a total of 23 times this year...So far, the Keys hold a 7-6 record against Lynchburg...In the first six games, there was only one home run between the two teams, but in the last seven contests the two sides have combined for 13 homers...OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ has a team-best .361 clip with two doubles, two home runs, five RBIs and 10 runs in 10 games...INF DREW DOSCH has hit both of his home runs and 15 of his league-best 32 RBIs against the Hillcats...He has also scored 10 runs in 12 games...

SHOOTOUT AT THE HARRY GROVE CORRAL: The top two offenses in the Carolina League will be duking it out in Frederick for the next four days... Lynchburg leads the Carolina League in a wide range of offensive categories, including runs scored (214), RBIs (196), home runs (35), total bases (610), slugging percentage (.387), hit by pitch (27), and sacrifice flies (19)...The 'Cats are only two away from the league lead with 91 doubles (Salem, 93)...Meanwhile, Frederick leads the league with 434 hits and a .266 batting average and ranks second in runs scored (212), total bases (601), home runs (22), RBIs (191), stolen bases (59), and on-base percentage (.324)...On the flip side of that, these two pitching staffs have allowed the most runs in the Carolina League this season and are a full run worse than any other team in the league for ERA...Frederick has 4.56 ERA, Lynchburg checks in at 4.55, and the Carolina Mudcats are sixth in the league with a 3.46 ERA...

NELLIE, NELLIE: 1B NELLIE RODRIGUEZ saw his streak of at least one RBI in nine straight games end in Winston-Salem, but he still leads the league with 36 for the season, including 18 RBIs in his last 15 games...RODRIGUEZ also saw his season-high eight-game hitting streak end last night although he did walk twice...He is 12-for-31 with five doubles and a home run over his last nine contests...Rodriguez was drafted in the 15th round out of George Washington HS in New York, N.Y., which is the same high school as Manny Ramirez...

THE OTHER RODRIGUEZ: OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ went 2-for-5 Thursday with a triple for his team-leading 15th multi-hit game of the year...With the three-base hit, RODRIGUEZ leads all current Carolina League players who qualify in slugging percentage with a .545 mark...He is tied for the league lead with BRADLEY ZIMMER with eight home runs...The 22-year-old also ranks eighth in batting average (.289) and fourth in the following categories: runs (27), triples (3), and stolen bases (11)...His 27 RBIs are fifth-best in the league...

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY POWER: Lynchburg has hit 22 home runs in the month of May, which is as many as any other Carolina League team has for the entire season...The Hillcats did not hit a home run in the first six games of the month, but the team has been pouring it on ever since, hitting 22 home runs in the past 22 games...

NOT SLOWING DOWN: Reigning Carolina League Player of the Week, OF BRADLEY ZIMMER has carried his success into this week, as he has reached base multiple times in each of his last 13 games, which includes seven multi-hit performances...The No. 2 prospect in the Indians organization stole a base Wednesday night to tie ADAM ENGEL for second in the league with 20...He also scored twice to push his league-leading total to 41...

VS. LEFTIES: Lynchburg will face three lefties during the four-game series against Frederick again...Lynchburg has been incredibly successful with a 9-5 record against southpaws this year...Lynchburg has a better average (.260 vs. .238) against lefties, though the 'Cats do have a worse slugging percentage (.366 vs. .396)...Ironically, LUIGI RODRIGUEZ, a former switch-hitter who only bats from the left side now, has the team's best average...RODRIGUEZ is hitting .358 with four doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs against left-handers...
