THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia edged Lexington 4-2 on Thursday evening in the Legends' home opener. The Power loaded the bases in the second inning and took a 1-0 lead on an Elvis Escobar infield base hit. Lexington tied the game in the fourth and took the lead on a Corey Toups home run in the fifth. Two Legends pitchers combined to retire 15 straight until Chase Simpson's first home run of the season evened the game at two in the eighth. The Power regained the lead on a run-scoring triple by Pablo Reyes and added an insurance run in the ninth. Junior Lopez notched the victory and Sam Street earned his first save. Nik Stephenson was saddled with the loss.

FAST FIVE: West Virginia earned its fifth victory of the season last night, needing only seven games to reach that total. During the Pirates affiliation, two teams (2010 and 2011) needed ten games to earn five victories. The 2007 Brewers-affiliated club reached the mark in eight games. The most it took any one Power team to reach five wins was 23 games during the inaugural 2005 season with Milwaukee. That team won its fifth game of the year on May 1.

LEGEN- WAIT FOR IT- DARY: West Virginia and Lexington will play 16 games against each other this season, including three more times in this series. The Power have played the Legends more than any other team since the start of the 2005 season and have beaten Lexington 99 times over 194 meetings. West Virginia holds an all-time mark of 59-45 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

IN THE LUP (LOOP): The Pirates have promoted infielder Jordan Luplow to the Power roster. Luplow, a third round draft choice in 2014 from Fresno State, was added to the roster from Extended Spring Training on Thursday and went 0-4 in his South Atlantic League debut. Luplow hit .277 with Jamestown last season over 62 games with six home runs and 30 runs batted in.

REGALADO REMOVED: To create room for Luplow on the Power roster, Pittsburgh transferred pitcher Jose Regalado to the West Virginia Black Bears roster. Regalado pitched five and a third innings of hitless relief on Wednesday in the combined no-hitter. The right-hander's outing was the longest relief effort since John Kuchno worked five and two-thirds on May 29, 2013.

NO 'DOH: Chase Simpson's hitting streak was extended to five straight with his eighth inning home run on Thursday. Simpson also extended his on-base streak to seven; at least oince in each game the Power have played this season.

NO-NO HISTORY: Wednesday's combined no-hitter from Jake Burnette, Jose Regalado and Eric Dorsch was the second in West Virginia Power franchise history. Hunter Strickland and Diego Moreno combined to no-hit the Charleston RiverDogs on July 27, 2009, shortly after Strickland was acquired from the Boston Red Sox. The last time a South Atlantic League team lost a game despite its pitching staff working a no-hitter was on June 27, 2004, when Rome no-hit Capital City and still lost.

POWER PROMO UPDATE- APRIL 25: The West Virginia Power will honor the 1990 Charleston Wheelers, the only team to bring a South Atlantic League title to Charleston. The entire team will be inducted onto the Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame and the first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative t-shirt celebrating the 25th anniversary of the championship.

POWER POINTS: Tito Polo's hitting streak was stopped at five with an 0-2 performance on Thursday night... Dovydas Neverauskas faced Lexington four times in 2014, going 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA and 18 strikeouts...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: The Pirates were idle on Thursday and host Milwaukee at PNC Park tonight...Indianapolis dropped a 6-1 final at home against Louisville... Altoona beat Akron 2-1 in an 11 inning walk-off. Eric Wood walked with the bases loaded to give the Curve the win.... Bradenton shut out Dunedin 6-0. Frank Duncan, Isaac Sanchez and Ryan Hafner held the Jays to three hits in the win. JaCoby Jones hit his third home run of the season.
