(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Lexington Legends broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the eighth inning and went on to a 6-3 win over the West Virginia Power Friday night. Michael Hill drove in four runs for the Legends with a triple and a single.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Brandon Downes, who had three hits in the game, led off with a single and stole second base. After Toups drew a walk, Carlos Garcia popped out while trying to bunt. But a wild pitch by West Virginia starter Dovydas Neverauskas moved the runners to second and third, and a balk allowed Downes to score.

In the bottom of the fourth, Downes doubled with one out, and Toups walked. Garcia flied out, but Hill followed with a drive into the gap for a triple, scoring Downes and Toups and giving the Legends a 3-0 lead.

That margin held up until the top of the eighth. Jeff Roy led off with an infield single, and Cole Tucker reached first when Roy beat a throw to second on an attempted force play. Pablo Reyes lined a single to center field, scoring Roy, and Tucker came home on an error by Downes, the center fielder. Jordan Luplow's double to right field brought Reyes home with the tying run.

With two outs and no one on in the bottom of the eighth, Downes singled, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. After Toups walked, Garcia bunted toward third. Downes scored to give the Legends the lead, and when Luplow threw past first for an error, Toups went to third and Garcia to second. Hill followed with a line single to right, scoring Toups and Garcia to give the Legends their final margin.

Colin Rodgers (1-1) got the win in relief. West Virginia reliever Yeudy Garcia (0-1) took the loss.

The series continues Saturday night. Game time is 7:05.
