(Charleston, W.V. - July 19, 2015) - The West Virginia Power won its third straight game over the Lexington Legends with a 4-0 final on Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. The win was the Power's ninth against the Legends and the Power aim for the four-game sweep on Monday night.
In the second inning the Power scored the first run of the game. With one out, Pablo Reyes hit a single, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Chase Simpson. It was the first time in the series that West Virginia scored the first run of the game.
Michael Suchy came up big in a two-run third. With the bases loaded and one out, Suchy clubbed a two-run double to plate Elvis Escobar and Jordan Luplow and gave the Power a three-run lead.
The Power scored their final run in the fourth inning. With two outs, Jeff Roy hit his second triple of the year and scored moments later on an RBI single by Escobar.
Power pitchers were sharp in Sunday's win. Starting pitcher John Sever was penciled in as a spot starter and tossed four shutout innings with five strikeouts, though he received a no-decision. Julio Vivas (1-1) earned his first career South Atlantic League win with three scoreless frames. Dovydas Neverauskas followed with two scoreless frames. Lexington starter Scott Blewett (2-3) took the loss.
West Virginia (17-7, 54-39) concludes the four-game set on Monday night against Lexington (10-11, 41-50). The Power will send RHP Alex McRae (4-6, 4.11) against LHP Foster Griffin (0-3, 6.44). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. while pregame on Charleston's ESPN Radio 104.5 FM and 1490, the Power website, and the TuneIn Radio App is slated for 6:45 p.m.
Monday's game is Family Buck Night presented by 58 WCHS and 98.7 The Beat with $1 general admission tickets and $3 box seats. In addition to the ticket specials, fans can save money with $1 hot dogs and hamburgers plus $2 cheeseburgers.
