Second-Rounder Adams Promoted to WS

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 19, 2015) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted 2014 second-round pick RHP Spencer Adams to the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash. Adams is scheduled to make his High-A debut for the Dash during today's doubleheader against the Lynchburg Hillcats (High-A, Braves). A corresponding roster move has not been announced.

Adams, 19, is 6-4 with a 3.43 ERA (29 ER/76.0 IP) in 15 games (15 starts) with Kannapolis, including a streak of four straight wins in his last four outings. The right-hander has been one of the South Atlantic League's best pitchers since the All-Star Break, going 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA (3 ER/18.1 IP) in three starts in the Second Half, the fifth-best ERA on the circuit in that time. The White Sox selected Adams in the second round (44th overall) of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of White County (Ga.) High School. He made his professional debut last season with the Arizona League White Sox, going 3-3 with a 3.67 ERA (17 ER/41.2 IP) and 59 strikeouts with only four walks in 10 games (nine starts).

With Adams' promotion, the Intimidators will send RHP Yelmison Peralta (3-7, 6.39 ERA) to the mound against the Hagerstown Suns (A, Nationals) today at 5:05 p.m., and RHP Thad Lowry (9-5, 4.02 ERA) will start Monday's series finale at 12:05 p.m. at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System.
