Bowie, MD - Aeros righthander Steven Wright tossed a complete-game, five-hit shutout Sunday afternoon, as the Aeros topped the Bowie Baysox, 5-0, in the final game of a weekend series at Prince Goerge's Stadium.

Wright (3-1) scattered five hits, walked two and struck out six. He closed his gem by striking out the side in the ninth inning. With his nine scoreless innings today, Wright's ERA stands at a miniscule 1.13.

It was the first complete-game shutout by an Aeros pitcher since Jeanmar Gomez blanked the Trenton Thunder on May 21, 2009.

It was the second complete game of Wright's career. His other came in 2008, in a seven-inning game for Class-A Kinston.

The Aeros (19-8) turned three double plays behind Wright. Catcher Roberto Perez also threw out Bowie's Steven Bumbry attempting to steal second base in the first inning.

Akron took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off Bowie starter Zach Clark (2-2). Tim Fedroff doubled, went to third on a base hit by Juan Diaz, and scored when Jared Goedert bounced into a double play.

The lead extended to 3-0 in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by Goedert and Adam Abraham, and an RBI groundout by Thomas Neal. Abraham had four doubles in the series.

The Aeros now hold a 3 =C21/2 game lead in the Eastern League Western Division. Second-place Harrisburg dropped a 2-1 decision at Binghamton Sunday.

The Aeros will begin a seven-game homestand at Canal Park on Monday night at 7:05, against the Erie SeaWolves. LHP T.J. House (0-0, 4.50) will start for Akron against the former Aero LHP Kelvin De La Cruz (1-3, 5.32) of Erie. Free tickets are available at any Akron-area Subway restaurant. It is also Dollar Dog Monday, with $1 hot dogs all game. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
