Harrisburg Senators News Release

For the second time this season the Senators lost a game in walk-off fashion as the Binghamton Mets scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth with two-outs, defeating the Senators 2-1. The Senators had their three-game winning streak snapped and failed to sweep a series for the first time this season. Harrisburg drops to 17-13 while Binghamton improves to 14-15 on the season.

Tied 1-1 into the bottom of the ninth, Pedro Zapata singled, and with one-out moved to second on a ground out. Josh Rodriguez singled into right field to score Zapata and allow the B-Mets to salvage a game from the series.

The Senators scored their only run when Chris Rahl stole third in the fourth, and scored when the throw to third sailed into left field. The B-Mets tied the score when they scored with the bases loaded on a fielder's choice, and an error, in the fifth inning.

Rob Gilliam started for the Sens and pitched six innings allowing five hits while striking out six and walking three. The only run he allowed was an unearned run. Pat McCoy pitched a scoreless seventh inning. Marcos Frias took the loss after keeping the Mets scoreless in the eighth, he couldn't duplicate the feat in the ninth.

Harrisburg returns home for a quick three-game homestand with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. LH Mike Ballard is on the hill Monday night for the Sens against RH Justin Fitzgerald for Richmond. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on mobile devices through iHeart Radio beginning at 6:40 p.m.
