INF Toussen Joins Thunder; INF Ibarra to DL

Trenton Thunder News Release


(Trenton, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that INF Jose Toussen has been promoted to Trenton from Class A-Advanced Tampa. Also INF Walter Ibarra has been placed on the disabled list (retroactive to 5/3) with a hand injury. Toussen was originally singed by the Yankees out of the Dominican Republic in 2006. The 22 year-old batted .205 in 16 games with Tampa this season. Ibarra had been out of action since 4/29.

The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, are located in Trenton, NJ and play in the 12 team Eastern League. The Thunder have drawn over 7.7 million fans in 18 years and have won the three major awards that Minor League Baseball teams can win; the Johnson Trophy for the "Nation's Best Franchise" (2005), the Larry MacPhail Trophy for Outstanding Club Promotion (2003) and the Bob Frietas Award for Long-Term Success (1998, given by Baseball America ). The team has given back over $4.4 million worth of goods, services and monetary donations through Trenton Thunder Charities, under the Grand Slam We Care Foundation umbrella.
