Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team traded forward Nathan Martz to the Stockton Thunder in exchange for center Derek Edwardson. The Wranglers have also signed Edwardson for the upcoming 2005-06 season.

"We are very pleased with this trade and we are pretty excited to get a player of Edwardson's caliber", said Wranglers General Manager/ Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He is a great young player who will provide us with some scoring up front."

Edwardson made his professional debut with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies last season, playing in 69 games. Edwardson led the Bullies in overall scoring with 64 points, including a team-leading 41 assists. The 24-year old center placed second on the team with 23 goals scored. Edwardson's 64 points finished as the third-highest total for rookies in the ECHL and his 41 assists tied for the league lead among first-year players. Edwardson added two assists in three playoff games this past season. Edwardson represented Atlantic City and the National Conference at the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All Star Game at Reading, PA in January. The Morton Grove, IL native scored the National Conference's fourth goal, helping them to a 6-2 win over the American Conference. Edwardson was rewarded for his stellar play on the ice with two separate recalls to the American Hockey League. Edwardson played three games with Grand Rapids and two games with Bridgeport, going scoreless in both call ups. He was selected as the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for November 22-28, 2004, and the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for November 2004 in part due to his first professional hat trick on 11/27/04. The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder played four seasons for Miami University from 2000-2004. Edwardson played 135 games for the Redhawks, scoring 38 goals and assisting on 82 others for 120 points.

Martz played for Long Beach the entire 2004-05 season. Martz was included (future consideration) in the trade that sent goalie Sebastien Centomo to the Ice Dogs on March 18th. Martz never played for the Wranglers.
