Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers have agreed to terms with former Bakersfield Condor and Wheeling Nailer forward, Chris Kushneriuk. The Ottawa, Ont. native will travel with the team to Idaho for their upcoming three-game set against the Steelheads.
Kushneriuk, 27, began his hockey career in the CJHL with the Orleans Blues, posting 62 points (24g, 38a) in 54 games during the 2006-07 season. The 6-foot forward then dropped the puck on his collegiate career the following year with Wayne State University, based out of Detroit, Mich. After spending his freshman season with the Warriors, Kushneriuk then made his way to Robert Morris University, where he amassed 68 points (27g, 41a) over three seasons with the Colonels, and was named team captain his senior year.
Immediately after his senior season concluded, Kushneriuk was signed by the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL, where he closed out 2010-11 with four goals and three assists in eight games at the professional level. He capped off the year with a postseason campaign that saw him register nine points (3g, 6a) over 15 games as a key component in the Nailers' run to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Kushneriuk returned to Wheeling to start off the 2011-12 season, tallying two points over the first 14 games before making his way to Bakersfield for the remainder of the season. It was there that the then 25-year-old forward had his best professional campaign, posting 12 points (2g, 10a) in 25 games.
Kushneriuk will be donning the number "7" jersey as the team makes their way to Boise, Ida. for three straight games against the Steelheads. The two teams will face off Wednesday, Mar. 5, Friday Mar. 7 and Saturday, Mar. 8, featuring an official viewing party at Scooter's Pub (Rainbow and the 215) on Friday night at 6:10pm.
