Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team was honored as the "Outstanding Organization" at the Nevada Chapter of Community Associations Institute's 2005 Heroes Luncheon.

The annual Heroes Luncheon recognizes individuals and organizations throughout the state of Nevada that go "above and beyond" to serve the community.

"As an organization the Wranglers have given back tremendously," said Kevin Ruth, President of Nevada Chapter of CAI. "They are successful on the ice and off the ice and they are a major contributor to our community. They have entrenched themselves in the hearts of the Valley through their hard work."

Wranglers' representatives were on hand to accept the award for community service. The plaque recognizing the Wranglers community service includes Certificates of Achievement/Recognition from Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, United States Senator John Ensign, and Nevada State Governor Kenny Guinn.

The Wranglers community service involvement includes more than 150 player and mascot appearances at parades, carnivals, and golf tournaments, while serving as community role models. The organization also participated in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's annual Race for the Cure. Last season, the Wranglers provided 300 "Welcome Home" packages for troops from Nellis AFB returning from duty in the Middle East.

Wranglers' players are actively involved in the Focus School Program, organizing school supply drives and speaking about the importance of goal setting. In addition to speaking at school career fairs, the players actively participate in reading programs for children at various schools throughout the Valley throughout the season, including a strong participation during the Nevada Reading Week. Las Vegas players also have provided basic hockey lessons to underprivileged youth.

The Wranglers play an active role with the After-School-All-Stars Program, providing incentives for students who participate in the program. The Wranglers have set in place a robust donation program supported by specialty jersey auction earnings. These earnings contribute to the multitude of ticket and memorabilia donations made throughout the season and off-season. The Wranglers also accept toy donations at the annual Midnight Game, during the 2004-05 season the toys were donated to Sunrise Acres Elementary School, making sure each student received one gift.

Recently, the Wranglers played an active role in the "2005 After School Summer Jam" and "Lights on After Dark" programs, donating tickets and goodie bags as incentives for students to read outside of the classroom. At the end of the 2004-05 season, Wranglers' center Jeff Attard was named CCM/ECHL Man of the Year for his individual work in the Las Vegas community.
