
Mississippi Sea Wolves Submit Voluntary Suspension Request

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced Wednesday that the Mississippi Sea
Wolves have requested a Voluntary Suspension for the 2005-06 playing
season, but that the team stated that it plans to return to play in
2006-07.
The Voluntary Suspension request will be presented for approval at the ECHL
Board of Governors Preseason Meeting on September 22, following which an
official announcement regarding the impact of the request on the 2005-06
playing schedule and hockey operations will be made.
The ECHL team is located in Biloxi which suffered a direct hit from
Hurricane Katrina, which is being called the worst natural disaster in the
history of the United States. The team's home arena, the Mississippi Coast
Coliseum, suffered extensive flood damage including the team offices and
locker rooms as well as ice-making equipment and two Zambonis.
