Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) (13-14-3, 29 Points) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (15-12-3, 33 Points) 4-1 in front of 4,252 fans Saturday night at the Orleans Arena. Forwards Mick Lawrence, Ned Lukacevic, and Kyle Hagel all scored for the Wranglers in seventh straight win at home. Defenseman Robbie Bina also tallied for Las Vegas. Wranglers goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 28 of 29 shots in his tenth win on the year. Goalie Beau Erickson was handed the loss for the Grizzlies. Defenseman Brock Wilson tallied the lone Grizzlies goal. The Wranglers will take on the Utah Grizzlies Sunday, January 3rd, at 2:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
The Wranglers jumped out to an early lead with a power-play goal from Mick Lawrence just 3:09 into play. Center Adam Miller and defenseman Craig Switzer set up Lawrence's team-leading 11th goal of the season for the 1-0 lead. Las Vegas padded the first period lead at 8:29 with a tally from left wing Ned Lukacevic. Rookie Jeff Hazelwood sprung Lukacevic for his eighth goal of the season and the 2-0 Wranglers lead. Las Vegas kept the pressure on with a tally from forward Kyle Hagel at 16:53. Captain Chris Neiszner and Lawrence set up Hagel's fifth goal on the year and the 3-0 Las Vegas lead.
In the second period, Utah chipped into the Las Vegas lead at 2:31 with a power-play marker from defenseman Brock Wilson. Grizzlies Captain Ryan Kinasewich set up Wilson's first goal of the season to trim the Wranglers lead to 3-1.
In the third period, Las Vegas put the icing on the cake with a goal from defenseman Robbie Bina at 13:03. Hazelwood and rookie Matt Kang set up Bina's fifth goal on the season to cap off the 4-1 Wranglers win.
