
Wranglers blank Roadrunners, 2-0, win fifth straight

LAS VEGAS, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers (29-6-3, 61 points) defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners (10-23-3, 23 points) 2-0 on Saturday night in front of 6,432 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' goaltender Marc Magliarditi recorded his ECHL leading 25th career shutout. Magliarditi's win was his league-leading 18th victory of the season and the team's fifth straight overall. Forwards Sean O'Connor and Marco Peluso each scored as Las Vegas moved to 17-1-2 at home this season. Phoenix goaltender Mike Mole made 42 saves in the loss. The Las Vegas Wranglers head on a seven game road trip and return home to the Orleans Arena to face the Alaska Aces on February 7th, at 7:05pm. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix on Thursday at 6:11 pm (PST).
After a scoreless first period, Sean O'Connor redirected a shot by Mike McBain to tally the first Wranglers goal of the evening. The Wranglers led 1-0 after two periods of play.
Marco Peluso scored on the power play with 2.4 seconds left in the game to give the Wranglers a 2-0 win.
Las Vegas will embark on a seven-game road trip with stops in Phoenix, San Diego, Idaho, Long Beach, and Bakersfield. Las Vegas will return to home ice on Tuesday, February 7th in a showdown with Alaska. After stops in Phoenix and San Diego next Thursday and Friday, the team enters the All-Star break. The All-Star Skills Competition is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00 pm at Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA. The 2006 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Bud Light, will take place Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 pm at Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA.
