BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Florida Everblades (25-9-2) won their third straight game, shooting down the Bakersfield Condors (13-13-5) on Sunday night at the Rabobank Arena.
The Condors opened the scoring early in the first period with a short-handed goal by Andrew Ianiero at 3:07 of the period. The short-handed tally was the seventh for Bakersfield and the sixth allowed by the Everblades this season.
Florida bounced back however after John Ronan chipped a rebound past Condors net-minder Ryan Munce at 7:40 to tie the game at one. Bakersfield grabbed a late first period lead when Paul Rosebush slipped a shot past Everblades goalie Phil Osaer with 35 seconds remaining in the frame.
The Everblades tallied the only second period goal, with Anders Strome notching his fourth goal of the year at 14:16 of the period tying the score at two.
In the third period, the Everblades jumped out to their first lead of the night when Grant McNeill tallied his first professional goal at 8:06. Corey Neilson added to that lead for the Everblades notching a power play goal with nine minutes remaining in the frame. Bakersfield responded to that goal with a power play tally of their own after Nick Economakos collected his second goal of the season at 13:35.
Kevin Bergin closed out the scoring with an empty-net power play goal with one second remaining in the game.
Osaer won his fifth game in his last six starts after stopping 35 of 38 Condors shots, which raised his overall record to 12-3-2. Munce suffered the loss allowing four goals on 41 shots, dropping his record to 10-5-3.
On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 2-for-4, while the Condors converted one of their eight chances on the man advantage.
The Everblades return to action on Tuesday, January 17 when they take on the Fresno Falcons at 10:00 p.m. eastern time from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA.
