Titans blanked by Nailers, 5-0

WHEELING, WV (January 15, 2006) - The Trenton Titans saw their losing streak extended to three games after falling 5-0 to the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena.

The Nailers drew first blood just 2:33 into the game with a power play goal as Terry Virtue fed Bo Cheesman for a one-timer that beat Dave Marlin to the near post. Though the Titans outshot Wheeling 14-4 in the first period, they would find themselves down 1-0 after the first twenty minutes of hockey.

In the second period, the Nailers were able to notch three-goals to open up a 4-0 cushion. Jordan Cameron registered his 14th goal of the season with a tip-in at 4:20 of the frame. Just over five minutes later, Cam Paddock put another one into the net as he hopped on loose puck in the crease and lifted in home.

Cheesman picked up his second goal of the game with just with 2:25 left until the second intermission to make the score 4-0. Eric Sonnenberg added one at 19:24 of the third period to complete the scoring.

Dave Marlin stopped 13 of 18 in his first start of the season. Andy Franck turned away all 26 shots he faced for his second shutout of the year.
