Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Paul Rosebush returned to the Rabobank Arena and scored a first period goal to bring a crowd of 5,150 to its feet in the Bakersfield Condors' 5-3 loss to the Florida Everblades at the Rabobank Arena.
Andrew Ianiero notched the game's first goal after he stripped Ryan Brindley of the puck on a Florida power play. Ianiero converted his breakaway opportunity and pushed the puck past Phil Osaer to give the Condors a 1-0 lead just 3:07 into the game.
Steve Saviano would create a chance for the Everblades after deking through two defenders and putting a shot on Ryan Munce. The Condors netminder made the initial save, but the rebound glided toward John Ronan, who saucered the puck into the net at 7:40 of the first to tie the game at 1- 1.
With 35 seconds left in the frame, Kevin St. Jacques created a turnover through two Florida defensemen and poked the free puck into the offensive zone. Paul Rosebush showed old habits die hard, as he instinctively followed the puck into the zone and buried the wrist shot on a short breakaway, giving Bakersfield a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The lone goal of the second period was created by Saviano's efforts to bring the puck behind the Condors net. After Saviano was pushed off the puck and taken off of the play, Anders Strome took over and wrapped the puck around the far post and lifted a backhander over Ryan Munce's left pad to tie the game at 2-2 with 5:44 remaining in the period.
Florida notched two mid-period goals in the third thanks to Grant McNeill on a one-timer from Strome and Corey Neilson on the power play, taking a 4-3 lead. Bakersfield answered back on the power play with 6:25 remaining when Scott Borders found Nick Economakos in the slot. Economakos fired a hard wrist shot past the right shoulder of Osaer to bring the Condors within a goal and cutting Florida's lead to 4-3.
Bakersfield had a late power play and Head Coach Marty Raymond pulled Ryan Munce for the extra skater with 2:19 left in the game, but the Everblades weathered the onslaught as Kevin Bergin sealed the game with an empty-netter as time expired.
Other notes: Rosebush's goal was the 129th of his professional career. Reagan Leslie's four game assist streak came to a close.
Phil Osaer earned the win, stopping 35 shots on 38 attempts. Ryan Munce was credited with the loss, despite making 37 saves on 41 Everblades shots.
