Worcester Sharks Sign Forward Jimmy Bonneau

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas has announced the signing of forward Jimmy Bonneau to an AHL contract for the 2011-12 season. Per club policy terms of the deal were not enclosed.

Bonneau, 26, has appeared in 195 AHL games with Hamilton, Portland, and Rochester and accumulated 16 points (6-10-16), 553 penalty minutes, and 70 fighting majors. Jimmy led the Hamilton Bulldogs last season with 180 penalty minutes and 22 fighting majors (10th in AHL).

The 6-foot-3 220lb forward from Baie-Comeau, Quebec has also appeared in 129 ECHL games with Long Beach and Cincinnati and accumulated 17 points (3-14-17), 287 penalty minutes, and 41 fighting majors.

Bonneau was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens with the 241st pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Before turning pro, he played with Montreal and Prince Edward Island in the QMJHL. He will wear #43 with the Worcester Sharks.
