Woodchucks Win 4 Straight, Tip Toe Past Chinooks 6-5

Continuing on their three game win streak, the Wisconsin Woodchucks looked to add another win to the standings race Monday night in Athletic Park against the Lakeshore Chinooks. Throughout the entire game, a back and fourth flow fueled both teams into the late innings. In the end, another Jackson Lowery save helped the "˜Chucks add another win as the Woodchucks hung on and came out victorious 6-5.

The Chinooks took the early lead by an error by shortstop Mike Bernal that left his glove and entered the outfield scoring Eric Aguilera and Ryan Krill. Woodchucks pitcher Jack Fischer struck out the first three batters in the first inning, but allowed two runs, and loaded the bases in the second inning twice.

Another run came across when Charlie Markson singled off of a wicked hop that bounced over third basemen Chevas Numata's head for an RBI single putting the Lakeshore Chinooks up 3-0.

The "˜Chucks would cut the deficit to one when J.D. Davis singled to center field scoring Brad McKewon, and Brooks Braga. Skyler Ewing would go to the plate next and slap a double to the deepest part of Athletic Park to score J.D. Davis from second base tying the Chinooks in the third inning.

That lead would disappear in the fourth inning however. With two outs and Nate Ruzich on first base, Forrest Chadwick doubled to deep center field scoring Ruzich to help Lakeshore reestablish their lead.

The Woodchucks would come back in the fifth inning however, scoring three runs to take over. J.D. Davis would single to right field scoring Brad McKEwon, and Brooks Braga, and once again, Skyler Ewing would drive in Davis to add to the lead with his third double of the game.

The Chinooks would cut their lead back down to one in the seventh inning, when Brian Smith lost the ball in the lights on a shallow pop up to right field, scoring Charlie Markson.

In the top of the ninth inning, Jackson Lowery came in for reliever Austin Stadler and shut down the side striking out three and allowing a base runner on an error by Madison Carter and helped the "˜Chucks walk away with the 6-5 win Monday night.

The Woodchucks will be back in action Tuesday evening against the Lakeshore Chinooks, and continue their three game series.
