Green Bay Bullfrogs Shut out Madison Mallards to Snap Losing Skid

The Bullfrogs improved to 2-2 on the second half of the Northwoods League season with a 4-0 shutout of the Madison Mallards at Joannes Stadium on Monday night.

All four Bullfrogs runs came in the fourth inning. Green Bay got RBI singles from Chris Hoo and Collin Shaw scoring Ransom LaLonde and Jason McMurray, respectively. Hoo scored on an RBI fielder's choice by David Armendariz. Alex Abrams also scored on an error by Mallards' shortstop Tom Verdi on the same play.

Green Bay starter Bryce Bellin took a perfect game into the fourth inning before giving up a leadoff walk to the league's leading hitter, Tyler Marincov.

Bellin (3-2) earned the victory for the Bullfrogs. He struck out nine batters in six scoreless innings of work while allowing only one hit. He was relieved by Bud Jeter who allowed one hit over two scoreless while striking out four batters. Alex Abrams struck out two batters and retired the side in order in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Mallards only had two hits and five base runners on the night.

The Bullfrogs will complete the series against the Mallards on Tuesday night at Joannes Stadium. It is the final game of a four game home stand for the Bullfrogs.
