Woodchucks Walk All over Loggers, Win Game Two 9-2

After Friday night's exciting 8-7 walk off victory, the Wisconsin Woodchucks game plan stayed unchanged going into the second of the three game series in Saturday night's rematch against the La Crosse Loggers.

The Woodchucks dominated in every aspect on Saturday night, with J.D. Davis on the mound with seven shutout innings, and efforts from Jacob Jelmini, Nate Irving, and Mike Bernal as they went for a multi hit game as the "˜Chucks rolled over the La Crosse Loggers for the second night in a row 9-2.

"Every game we just want to come out and compete. We need to stay mentally tough and keep prepared, take one game at a time. The only team that can beat us is us," said Erik Supplee.

The Woodchucks would be the first to strike in Saturday night's rematch with a two run bomb by Skyler Ewing early on in the game, his sixth of the year, and fifth off of left handed pitchers.

The game would be halted in the top of the third for a rain delay however. A rough twenty minutes later, play would resume.

The Woodchucks stayed locked in going back into play scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fourth by Madison Carter on a RBI double, and Nate Irving with an RBI single making it a 4-0 game.

The fourth inning only got worse for the Loggers, as Jake Peter tailored a ball to deep center field for his second home run of the year, scoring Nate Irving to suddenly make it a 6-0 game as the "˜Chucks began to gap the Loggers.

The Woodchucks would tack on another run in the fifth inning off of a RBI double by Jacob Jelmini that would rattle off the fence in left field bringing around Brendon Hayden from first base.

Jelmini wasn't done there, on the night; Jelmini went 3-5 with a single, a double, and a solo home run in the seventh inning to gain another insurance run for the Woodchucks as they batted in an eight run cushion.

While the Woodchucks bats were hot, so was the pitching game as J.D. Davis went seven innings, gave up seven hits, no earned runs, and received the win on Saturday evening.

In the eighth inning, with Chevas Numata on the mound, the Loggers earned their first run on a solo blast by Matt Chapman, his first of the season, as the Loggers would put up a run on the board.

The Woodchucks, still swinging away would grab the eight run lead in the eighth inning after Brendon Hayden flew out to center field, deep enough for Nate Irving to tag from third and cross home.

The Loggers would add another run in the ninth off a solo homerun by Boomer Collins to close the lead to seven.

The Woodchucks would pick up their second straight win against the La Crosse Loggers and remain on top of the Northwoods South Division at 8-1.
