Woodchucks Take Series Opener in Wausau

Wausau, Wis. - The Wausau Woodchucks defeat Green Bay Wednesday night, 8-3.

The scoring started in the first inning, when Wausau first baseman Hunter Dorraugh hit a solo shot to center.

Green Bay evened it up quickly. With one out in the second, Carson Yates singled home Matt Scannell, immediately after Scannell doubled.

In the bottom of the second, Wausau worked five walks, and five runs ultimately scored. Another run came in the third on a wild pitch, and Dorraugh hit his second home run of the game to make it 8-1 in the fourth.

In the eighth, the Rockers scored two runs on two hits. Collier Cranford doubled home Owen Jackson, then Scannell singled him home. Green Bay gave Wausau a finish in the ninth, but the Woodchucks hung on for an 8-3 final tally.

Kyle Stoddard pitched three solid innings in relief for Green Bay. He faced two over the minimum and allowed no runs, one hit and one walk, while also striking out one.

Rockers look to even the series with the Woodchucks on Thursday night. The game will be held at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon.

Aidan Major will pitch for the Woodchucks, and Dylan Carter will go for the Rockers. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
