Lakeshore Chinooks News Release
The Lakeshore Chinooks started their two game set with the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Friday night at Kapco Park. The Chinooks struggled to get base runners and convert when there were men in scoring position which led to a 6-0 loss.
The Woodchucks got off to a quick start in the top of the 1st inning. With the bases loaded, a two RBI single by John Menken gave the Woodchucks an early 2-0 lead.
The scoring stalled until the top of the 9th inning when the Woodchucks loaded the bases for Dylan Detert who ripped a two RBI single to right field pushing the lead to 4-0. The scoring did not stop there, Woodchuck batter laid down a safety squeeze resulting in Wisconsin's fifth run to cross. Once again, Wisconsin loaded the bases and sliced an RBI ground-out to second base capping a four run inning and resulting in a 6-0 win.
Lakeshore struggled to put runners on and when they did, they could not convert. The Wisconsin Woodchucks also played a near-perfect game recording 13 strikeouts and limiting the Chinooks to two hits. Chinooks starter Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) went six innings giving up two runs on six hits and recording two strikeouts.
The Lakeshore Chinooks (18-8) look to get back on track on Saturday, August 3rd against the Wisconsin at 6:35 PM. This will be the final regular season home game at Kapco Park! Come cheer on the Chinooks as they make their final push for a playoff spot.
