Woodchucks Bounce Back to Beat the Booyah by Eleven Runs

Wausau, WIS - After losing last night in Green Bay, the Wisconsin Woodchucks responded to the Booyah in a big way. They beat Green Bay by a score of 15-4. The Woodchucks' bats exploded for sixteen hits, including two home runs from Adam Frank and Byron Murray.

The Woodchucks got started right away in the first inning when Alabama outfielder T.J. Reeves made his debut for the team. He singled to center and later scored on a wild pitch. The Woodchucks added another first inning run by capitalizing on a Green Bay error that scored Kenny Rodriguez.

The scoring continued in the second inning when Lawrence Cicileo hit an RBI single that scored Adam Frank. T.J. Reeves added to his impressive debut by scoring Cicileo on an RBI single.

Then came the third inning when Adam Frank blasted a two-run home run over the center field wall that also scored Kaeber Rog. Frank now leads the Woodchucks with two home runs this season.

The Woodchucks took advantage of another error made by the Booyah in the fourth inning. Green Bay's catcher overthrew third base where Kenny Rodriguez was ready to score. Later in the inning, Adam Frank added another run to his 3 RBI day with a single that scored Byron Murray.

Brandon Seltzer was able to score after a balk was called against Green Bay's pitcher in the sixth inning. Soon after, clean-up hitter Byron Murray lifted a two-run home run over the left field wall that also scored Kenny Rodriguez. This gave the Woodchucks an 11-4 lead.

The seventh inning was more than a stretch for the Woodchucks after Green Bay walked the bases loaded, leaving Adam Frank to score his third run of the game and eighth of the season. With the bases still loaded, Kenny Rodriguez took advantage by hitting a two-run double to center field that scored Kyle Simmon and Nolan Soliveres. The seventh inning scoring continued when Byron Murray hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Brandon Seltzer from third base. This gave the Woodchucks the 15-4 lead that remained until the game ended.

Top Performers

Third baseman Adam Frank went 4-4 with 3 RBI. He walked, hit three singles, and also blasted a two-run home run in the third inning. Frank represented three of the Woodchucks runs.

Second baseman Byron Murray went 2-3 with 3 RBI. He walked, singled, hit an RBI sacrifice fly, and also hit a two-run home run over the left field wall in the sixth inning.

Left fielder Kenny Rodriguez went 3-4 with 2 RBI. He walked, singled twice, and hit an RBI double that scored two in the seventh inning.

Center fielder T.J. Reeves made his debut with the Woodchucks by going 2-3 with 1 RBI. In his first at-bat, the Alabama product hit a double to right field and later showed off his speed by scoring on a passed ball.

Next Up

The Wisconsin Woodchucks will travel to Fond du Lac tomorrow on Sunday, June 9 to face the Dock Spiders before meeting up with them again at the beginning of a three-game homestand at Athletic Park. The homestand will begin on Monday, June 10 with the first 250 fans receiving a free Woodchucks baseball hat. Tuesday, June 11 will be a double-header against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. After playing in Wisconsin Rapids at 11:35 AM, the teams will face off in Wausau to complete the twin-bill with a 6:35 PM game start. It will be Wausau Youth Baseball and Softball Night. The homestand will then round out on Wednesday, June 12 with a visit from everyone's favorite henchmen! The Minions will visit Athletic Park when the Woodchucks take on Green Bay at 6:35 PM.
