
Wolves Make Roster Moves

The Chicago Wolves have signed left wing MATT CLACKSON to a Standard Player's Contract (SPC) and forward NATHAN LONGPRE to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) on Tuesday. In addition, the team has assigned goaltender CHARLIE EFFINGER to the Central Hockey League's Missouri Mavericks.
CLACKSON recorded 4 points (G, 3A) and 118 penalty minutes in 62 American Hockey League games with the Adirondack Phantoms last season. His 118 penalty minutes ranked third on the Phantoms.
Overall, the 26-year-old forward has tallied 13 assists, 19 points and 574 penalty minutes in 204 career AHL outings with Adirondack and the Philadelphia Phantoms, spanning three seasons (2008-11).
Prior to turning pro, the Pittsburgh, Penn., native skated in 105 CCHA matchups with Western Michigan University from 2005-08, recording 16 points (4G, 12A) and 219 penalty minutes.
LONGPRE set a career-high and led the team with 42 points (14G, 28A) in 33 games as a senior with Robert Morris University (AHA) last season. He ranked first on Robert Morris with 14 goals and second with 28 assists. The 23-year-old also made his professional debut in eight contests with the AHL's Worcester Sharks after the completion of his collegiate season.
Overall, the Peterborough, Ont., native amassed 47 goals, 91 assists, and 138 points in 136 games with the Colonials, spanning four seasons (2007-11).
EFFINGER spent the 2010-11 campaign backstopping the Newcastle Vipers of the Elite Ice Hockey League. He posted a 14-39-2 record and a 4.76 goals-against average in 56 games with Newcastle.
The 26-year-old goaltender's most recent North American action came in 2009-10, when he split the season between the CHL's Allen Americans and Missouri Mavericks. He notched a 8-3-1 mark and 2.34 goals-against average in 14 games with Allen and a 9-3-1 record and 2.69 goals-against average in 13 outings with Missouri that year. The Belleville, Ill., native appeared in 22 ECHL contests with the Gwinnett Gladiators and Trenton Devils in 2008-09, posting a 9-10-2 record and 3.19 goals-against average.
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The Wolves open their 18th season at 7 p.m. on Saturday when they battle the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center. The club holds its home opener, presented by LifeSource, at 7 p.m., Sat., Oct. 15, against the Milwaukee Admirals at Allstate Arena.
