October 4, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that defenseman Jordan Hendry has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the team. The Aeros are the 2011 American Hockey League (AHL) Western Conference Champions and primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild.
"We are pleased to bring in a competitor with Jordan's experience," Mill said. "This is an opportunity for Jordan to work his way back into the game while his experience will undoubtedly prove beneficial to our younger players. He adds depth to our organization and will help us succeed on the ice."
Hendry, 27 (2/23/84), brings 129 games of National Hockey League (NHL) games, all with the Chicago Blackhawks. The Lanigan, Saskatchewan, native has collected 13 points (4-9=13) along with 40 penalty minutes (PIM) over the course of four season with the Blackhawks. He was a member of Chicago's 2010 Stanley Cup Championship team and played in 15 games during that playoff run.
The 6-foot-0, 197-pound defenseman has also spent time in the AHL. He appeared in 191 games with the Norfolk Admirals and Rockford IceHogs posting 37 points (11-30=37) and 200 PIM. Overall, Hendry has appeared in 320 total professional games, producing 50 points (15-35=50) and 240 PIM.
Hendry turned pro in 2005 after playing four seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. He played in 112 contests and posted 36 points (11-25=36) and 143 PIM.
The regular season home-opener for the Aeros is set for Sunday, Oct. 9 versus Chicago at 5:05 p.m. Aeros single-game tickets are on sale now at the Toyota Center Box Office and online at Aeros.com.
