Abney and Roy Assigned to Stockton

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers announced today that goaltender Olivier Roy and right winger Cameron Abney have been assigned to Stockton of the ECHL.

Abney, a 6-5, 205-pounder from Aldergrove, B.C. was the Oilers 3rd round selection (82nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has played the last four seasons in the Western Hockey League, splitting time between the Everett Silvertips and Edmonton Oil Kings. In 176 games over those four seasons, he recorded 37 points (14-23-37) and served 298 penalty minutes. He played in the Barons preseason game against Houston recording a shot on goal and serving nine penalty minutes.

The 133rd overall pick in 2009, net minder Olivier Roy was the top ranked Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goalie prospect in 2008-09, Roy posted a 3.04 goals-against average and a .906 save-percentage in 54 games. Roy also played in the Barons preseason game stopping all 11 shots he faced in 29 minutes of play.

The Barons home opener is just 11 days away on October 15 against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. For the home opener, the Barons have teamed with Susan G. Komen Foundation's Race for the Cure to raise awareness for breast cancer reserach. Every fan who attends the game will receive a pink t-shirt from the Barons and Mercy Hospital.
