Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves continued their first road trip of the season with a 3-2 loss to the Sarnia Sting on Thanksgiving Sunday. The Wolves opened up an early 1-0 lead, but were unfortunately unable to hang on.

The Wolves played a good 1st period, taking an early lead in the game. Captain DANNY DESROCHERS opened the scoring for the Wolves halfway through the period. DMITRY SOKOLOV and MICHAEL PEZZETTA added the assists. The Wolves carried the play in the period outshooting the Sting 9-5.

The Sting responded in the 2nd period with a goal late in the frame. Despite three powerplay opportunities for the Wolves, they were held off the score sheet in the period. MATTHEW MENNA made his first start for the team this season, stopping 18 of 21 shots in the game. The Wolves headed into the room tied at one and were outshooting Sarnia 16-13 after 40 minutes.

The Wolves played hard in the third period, but fell behind, giving up two early goals. They made it close as CONOR CUMMINS scored his first goal of the season, assisted by PAVEL JENYS and JACOB HARRIS, to get the Wolves back in the game. The Wolves outshot the Sting 14-8 in the period, but that was as close as they would get. Final shots were 30-21 for the Wolves.

The Wolves complete their three game road trip Monday, when the team visits the Kitchener Rangers for the only time this season. The team returns home next Friday to face their northern rival, the North Bay Battalion, for the first time this season. Tickets are available for purchase at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling (705)-671-3000 or visiting www.greatersudbury.ca.
