Chicago Wolves News Release

Winnipeg, MANITOBA---The Chicago Wolves pulled even midway through the second period but could never grab the lead, dropping an eventual 4-1 decision to the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre Friday night.

Center Johnny Pohl tallied the lone goal for Chicago (0-2-0-0) to knot the score, 1-1, at 10:25 of the second period. Defenseman Jamie Hunt carried the puck into the Moose zone and slid a pass across to a streaking Pohl, who slipped it past Moose goaltender Cory Schneider, five-hole.

Schneider (2-1-0) stopped 23 of 24 shots to backstop Manitoba to the win.

Manitoba (2-1-0-0) got on the board first when left wing Michael Grabner gained control of the puck and threaded through two Wolves defenseman, before pulling Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre out of position and depositing it in the net at 11:57 of the first period.

The Moose answered Pohl's tally just under two minutes later when defenseman Michael Funk picked up the puck after it caromed off the boards and ripped a shot through traffic that found its way underneath MacIntyre and hopped into the back of the net.

The Moose increased their lead, 3-1, when two Wolves got tangled up and turned the puck over in their zone, opening the ice for right wing Sergei Sirokov to move to the top of the slot and fire a shot straight by MacIntyre.

Grabner notched his second of the game to round out scoring, 4-1, with five minutes remaining in the third when he cranked a shot past MacIntyre from the left corner of the crease.

MacIntyre (0-2-0) recorded 30 saves for Chicago.

The Wolves and Moose rematch tomorrow at the MTS Centre at 7:30 p.m.
