Bickell Returned To Rockford, Hogs Face Bulldogs Tonight

Chicago, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman announced Friday that the National Hockey League club has returned left wing Bryan Bickell to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Bickell, 23, was held without a point but led the team with five hits in 6:46 of ice time on Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit. It was his first appearance with the Blackhawks since the 2007-08 season, when he skated in four games. He is expected to join the IceHogs in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Bowmanville, Ontario, native appeared in 42 games with the IceHogs in 2008-09, recording six goals, eight assists and 60 penalty minutes. He has notched two goals in seven career games with the Blackhawks.

Bickell was selected #41 overall (round 2) by Chicago in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 163 career AHL regular season contests with the Norfolk Admirals (2006-07) and IceHogs (2007-09) since turning pro in 2006, registering 35 goals, 43 assists, 78 points and 178 penalty minutes.

The winger spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67's and Windsor Spitfires, notching 190 points (94g-96a) and 235 penalty minutes in 242 career regular season outings.

Rockford visits Copps Coliseum for the first time in nearly two years

Hamilton, Ont.- Tonight the Rockford IceHogs engage in game two of a season opening five-game road swing when they travel to the Copps Coliseum to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. and the game can be heard tonight on 1330 AM, WNTA or on-line by clicking here beginning with the U.S. Cellular pregame show at 6 p.m.

Rockford's hasn't played in Hamilton since Oct. 28, 2007. The Bulldogs are the only Western Conference team which the IceHogs have yet to beat since joining the league in 2007-08. Rockford is 0-2-0-0 and dropped a 5-1 affair to the Bulldogs in Hamilton and a 2-1 contest at the MetroCentre on Jan. 2, 2008.

Winger Kyle Greentree is expected to make his IceHogs debut tonight after being acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks from the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. Greentree scored 39 goals last season with Quad City, the second most in the AHL.

Goalie Corey Crawford is also slated to make his 2009-10 IceHogs debut. Crawford is the third winningest goalie in Rockford history. Overall, the IceHogs lineup will be drastically different from the one fielded by the club on Sunday in Peoria. Along with Greentree and Crawford, forwards Evan Brophey, Jack Dowell, Rob Klinkhammer and Jack Skille are all expected to make their IceHogs debut tonight. Winger Bryan Bickell, who also made the trip to Europe with the Blackhawks, was recalled on Thursday and joined the National Hockey League team in Detroit.
