ST. LOUIS (October 9, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has assigned left-winger D.J. King to the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen on a conditioning assignment.

King, 25, missed all but one game during the 2008-09 season with the St. Louis Blues and has missed time during the preseason with a thumb injury. Tonight will be his first AHL game since he played for the Rivermen during the 2006-07 season. In 89 NHL games, all with St. Louis, King has nine points (4g, 5a) and 152 penalty minutes.

For the Rivermen, King played parts of the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Having appeared in 105 games, the Meadow Lake, SK native racked up 262 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound enforcer was drafted by the Blues in sixth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Peoria returns to action tonight to play host to the Milwaukee Admirals. It is the first opportunity for fans to take advantage of a $2 Bud and Bud Light Friday Night.
