
'Wolves Beat Baysox 4-3; Cron Notches 1,000th Win

The SeaWolves won their second straight game as they took down the Bowie Baysox on Saturday night at Prince George's Stadium 4-3. The win gave Erie manager Chris Cron his 1,000th career victory.
The SeaWolves scored first for the third time in the series in the top of the second inning against Bowie starter Bobbu Bundy. Rawley Bishop and Rob Brantly connected on back-to-back doubles to start the inning. A Bundy balk scored Bishop and moved Brantly to third. With one out, Brandon Douglas grounded into an error that brought home Brantly making it 2-0 Erie. Douglas moved to third on a Brent Dlugach double and scored on a Niuman Romero sacrifice fly making it 3-0.
Bowie got on the board in the third against Erie starter James Avery. Jonathan Schoop led off with a double and scored on an L.J. Hoes base hit making it 3-1.
The 'Wolves went back ahead by three in the fifth. Romero led off with a single and scored on a two-out Brantly knock for a 4-1 edge.
Bowie made the game interesting in the eighth against reliever Kenny Faulk. After tossing two scoreless innings, Brandon Waring and Tyler Townsend hit back-to-back home runs with one out making it a one-run game at 4-3. Erie got through the inning with no further damage.
In the ninth, Tyler Stohr, who came into the game in the eighth, came back out to get the save. With one out, Hoes singled and with two outs, Waring singed putting runners on the corners. Townsend flew out to Bishop in left, ending the game. Stohr notched his first save.
Avery (2-1) earned the win allowing a run on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts in five innings.
Erie will look for the series win on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium...2:05 First Pitch. Righty Mark Sorensen (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his Erie debut against LHP Jacob Pettit (2-0, 2.00 ERA).
