New Britain Rock Cats News Release

NEW BRITAIN, CT - New Britain starter Andrew Albers struck out seven and Bobby Lanigan added two shutout innings in relief as the Rock Cats defeated New Hampshire, 4-1 on Saturday night. The Rock Cats moved back into first place with the victory.

Albers (1-0) limited the Fisher Cats (6-10) to one run on five hits and no walks in seven impressive innings.

The Rock Cats (12-5) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. James Beresford led off the inning by scorching a shot to shortstop Ryan Goins, who mishandled the ball allowing Beresford to reach first safely on an error. Estarlin De Los Santos then launched a fly ball to right field that was misread by Beresford, who rounded second base only to be called out after right fielder Brad Glenn made the play in the outfield and doubled off Beresford at first. The Rock Cats refused to go down quietly in the inning, though, as Chris Herrmann dropped a double into center field. Herrmann crossed the plate on a single by Evan Bigley.

In the third, the Rock Cats tacked on two more runs. Aaron Hicks started the inning off by drilling a triple into center field and scoring on a ground out by Deibinson Romero. Pedro Florimon followed with a double before scoring on Nate Hanson's line drive single into center for the 3-0 lead.

Albers handed the ball over to Lanigan in the top of the eighth. Lanigan limited the Fisher Cats to one hit and struck out two in two scoreless innings to notch his second save of the season.

Ryan Tepera allowed nine hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings to suffer the loss for the Fisher Cats.

ALLSTATE PLAYER OF THE GAME: LHP Andrew Albers struck out seven while limiting the Fisher Cats to one run on five hits and no walks in seven innings.
