The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce their players of the month award winners the month of November.
TRAVELODGE SUDBURY COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH
NATHAN PANCEL has been named the TRAVELODGE COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH for his outstanding contribution to the City of Greater Sudbury during the month of November. PANCEL has been a great Sudbury Wolves ambassador over his career and has participated in numerous events within our community. PANCEL has visited schools such as R.L. Beattie, Holy Cross, Jeanne-Sauve and Felix-Ricard to speak to children about hockey, the importance of education, being respectful to one another and everything in between. The Sudbury Wolves are proud to be able to have Nathan represent this hockey club in this great and supportive community.
MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD
Through his exceptional play on the ice throughout the month of November, NATHAN PANCEL has been awarded the MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD. Being named 1st star twice, 2nd star once as well as 3rd star of the game twice, PANCEL'S efforts on the ice have not gone unnoticed. The 6' left-winger from Orleans, Ontario has notched two hat-tricks to date this season. In 26 games, PANCEL has scored 14 goals and added 8 assists for a total of 22 points.
MCDONALD NAPIER AND THOMAS INSURANCE SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Forward MATT SCHMALZ has been named the MCDONALD NAPIER AND THOMAS INSURANCE SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD WINNER for the month of November. SCHMALZ is currently attending grade 12 at LaSalle Secondary School where he is enrolled in grade 12 Geography and World Issues. Matt is maintaining a 94% average over the two classes. SCHMALZ is proving the importance of how hardwork pays off on the ice and in the classroom. The Dunnville, Ontario native has had an excellent start to the season notching 12 goals and 5 assists for 17 points in 26 games. The Sudbury Wolves will look to SCHMALZ for continued success on and off the ice into the second half of the season.
RYOBI HARDEST WORKING FORWARD
The RYOBI HARDEST WORKING FORWARD OF THE MONTH is European Import, PAVEL JENYS. JENYS has adjusted to the North American hockey style very quickly and has been a standout player for the young Wolves squad. The Minnesota Wild prospect has notched 6 goals and added 15 assists for 21 points so far this season. JENYS was recently invited to the 2014 U-20 Czech National Try-Out Hockey Camp on December 12th for the 2014 World Junior Tournament to be held in Toronto and Montreal over the holiday break.
RYOBI HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN
18-year-old defenceman, CONOR CUMMINS has been named the RYOBI HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN for the month of November. CUMMINS is entering his 3rd season with the Wolves and is showcasing his talent. Cummins works hard every minute he is on the ice and is smart play-maker. The Sudbury Wolves will continue to count on Conor's strong defensive play throughout the month of December and into the second half of the season.
SKATER'S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
NATHAN PANCEL is the winner of the SKATER'S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH award. The overage forward had an excellent month on the score-sheet. In 12 games over the course of the month, PANCEL scored 12 goals and added 5 assists for 17 points. The hardworking left-winger is a difficult player to play against and a great leader in the dressing room. The Sudbury Wolves are fortunate to have NATHAN PANCEL representing the Wolves organization on and off the ice this season.
The Sudbury Wolves will begin presentations this weekend as they host the best team in the East, the Oshawa Generals at 7:30PM on Friday and the Mississauga Steelheads on Sunday at 2:00PM.
