Wolves Add 15 New Players in 2021 OHL Priority Selection

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves welcomed 15 new prospects to the organization through the 2-Day 2021 OHL Priority Selection event on Friday June 4th and Saturday June 5th.
"Our staff are thrilled with the results of the draft and the way the past 2 days have played out," said Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager, Rob Papineau. "Anytime you can start off selecting a player like Quentin Musty first overall, it's going to be an unbelievable draft. We were able to add some great players to our organization for the upcoming and future seasons. Selecting an incredible group of prospects, 8 forwards, 6 defencemen, and 1 goaltender. I am incredibly proud of our scouting team as we were able to select those from the top of our list, including our top-rated forward, the number one defencemen, and our top-ranked goalie. We are really happy with the results and we are excited for our fans to join us back at the arena on September 4th."
The Wolves kicked off the 2021 OHL Priority Selection on Thursday June. 3rd naming Quentin Musty the
Jack Ferguson award recipient and our first overall selection from the North Jersey Avalanche. Following Day One of the OHL Priority Selection, the Sudbury Wolves announced Quentin's commitment to the club as well as second round selection, Alex Assadourian of the York-Simcoe Express.
Alex Assadourian is one of the most complete players in the draft. As a centreman, he possesses an elite level hockey sense, and playmaking ability. He had a tremendous season prior to the pandemic where he had registered 70 points (40G-30A) in 41 games played. Alex is a young man that has been a leader on and off the ice for his team and has displayed excellence in the classroom.
The Wolves started off the second day of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection with the first pick in round 4 welcoming defenceman, Matthew Mania of the North Jersey Avalanche to the hockey club. As a 6', 185lbs., right-shot defenceman, Matthew played up a level this season with the Avalanche along with the Wolves 1st overall selection Quentin Musty. Matthew proved to be one of the best defenceman in the country helping lead his team to the National Championship in St. Louis this spring.
"It was another exciting Draft weekend for the Sudbury Wolves organization," added Head Scout, Mike Taylor. "Collectively as the Wolves scouting team, we feel that we were able to increase our prospect base as well as address a few areas of need with players moving up from our program. Overall, we are very excited for what the future holds as we follow the development of these exceptional players, to one day becoming future Sudbury Wolves."
