
Sting Welcome 16 New Faces to Sting Nation After 2021 OHL Priortiy Selection

Sarnia, ON. - The two-day 2021 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore wrapped up today and the Sarnia Sting added 16 prospects through 15 rounds of the Draft.
Round 1, Pick 13: Angus MacDonell
With the Sting's first selection of the Draft, the Sting chose 5'10" centerman Angus MacDonell from Toronto, Ontario. During the 2019-20 season, MacDonell was the captain of the Toronto Marlboros U15 AAA team with whom he recorded 23 goals and 9 assists in 27 games.
Sting General Manager Dylan Seca comments, "We are extremely happy and excited to have Angus join our organization. He is a player that we targeted in this Draft. He has a high-end compete level combined with excellent character and leadership. We see a skilled, two-way centre that our fans in Sarnia will really enjoy watching on the ice."
Round 2, Pick 30: Ben Lalkin
With their second-round selection, the Sting were overjoyed to add power forward Ben Lalkin at 30th overall. Lalkin, standing at 5'9", tallied 34 goals and 15 assists for 49 points in 18 games with his hometown Mississauga U15 Reps during their 2019-20 season.
"Ben is a highly competitive, skilled forward who loves to score goals. He is a great teammate and a player we feel can play in all positions. We are more than thrilled he was still available with our pick in the second round," adds Director of Player Evaluation Mark Filippone.
Round 3, Pick 52: Alexis Daviault
With the Sting's final selection on day one of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, the club added defenceman Alexis Daviault to the roster. The 5'11" Ottawa native finished the 2019-20 season with 11 goals and 6 assists in 28 games with the Eastern Ontario Wild. Alexis is very solid on the blueline and is determined to make an impression on the ice this season
Kyle Crane Director of Player Personell states, "Alexis is without a doubt one of the best skating defenceman in the draft. He has great puck skills, his mobility is outstanding, and we love his ability and skill set to play on the powerplay."
Round 4, Pick 71: Ethan Tierman
The Sting used their first pick on day two of the OHL Priority Selection, previously acquired via trade from the Mississauga Steelheads, to add 5'10" left shoot forward Ethan Tierman from the Mississauga Rebels.
Round 5, Pick 92: Gabriel Perreault
With their fifth-round pick, the Sting selected Gabriel Perreault from Hinsdale, Illinois at 92nd overall. The offensively gifted, 5'10" left shot forward recorded 40 points in 26 games over the past three seasons with Chicago Mission and follows in the footsteps of his brother, Jacob Perreault, who was selected by the Sting in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
Round 6, Pick 107: Brayden Degelas
The Sting added right shot, 6'2" forward Brayden Degelas from Blenheim, Ontario with their sixth-round selection. During the 2019-20 season, Degelas recorded 20 goals and 33 assists for 53 points in just 32 games with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones.
Round 7, Pick 132: Owen Thomas
In the 7th round the team added 6'2" defenseman Owen Thomas of the Notre Dame Hounds. Last season, the native of Chicago, Illinois recorded 1 goal and 6 assists in 6 games at the U16 level, while posting the same stats in just 4 games of U18 competition.
Round 8, Pick 147: Connor Brown
5'9" centreman Connor Brown was selected with the Sting's eighth round selection. Born in Estero, Florida, Brown spent the previous season playing for the Florida Alliance 15U AAA Hockey Club.
Round 9, Pick 161: William Bray
The Sting's first selection of the ninth round went to left shot defenceman William Bray from Niagara-on-the-Lake. Bray, who stands at 5'9", spent his last season with the Mississauga Reps U16AAA.
Round 9, Pick 172: Easton Wainwright
With the Sting's second selection of the ninth round the team selected Mount Hope, Ontario native and 5'8" centreman Easton Wainwright from the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs of the South-Central Triple-A Hockey League.
Round 10, Pick 187: Tanner Walos
In the 10th round the Sting selected Tanner Walos of the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals 15's. Walos, a 5'10" centreman, is from from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Round 11, Pick 204: Jaxon Priddle
The Sting were pleased to select hometown prospect Jaxon Priddle with their 11th round pick. Jaxon has been an active member of the Lambton Jr. Sting AAA over the last few years and was very excited to have been selected by Sarnia. "It's an awesome feeling." Priddle is a left winger and stands at 6'0" tall.
Round 12, Pick 227: Stone Rolston
With their 227th pick in the OHL Priority Selection the Sting chose right winger Stone Rolston from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Rolston, who stands at a whopping 6'3", played his most recent season with the Detroit Little Caesars 15's.
Round 14, Pick 267: Taya Currie
The Sting broke history with their pick in the 14th round, selecting 5'7" goaltender Taya Currie from Parkhill, Ontario. Currie played her most recent season with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs U16 AAA.
Round 15, Pick 282: Paul Alexander
With their first selection in the final round, the Sting selected centreman Paul Alexander from Richmond Hill, Ontario. Alexander, who stands at 5'11", spent his last season with the Markham Waxers U16 AAA.
Round 15, Pick 292: Antonino Rizzo
With their final selection of the 2021 OHL Draft, the Sting chose goaltender Antonino Rizzo from Bolton, Ontario. Bolton comes from the Mississauga Rebels U16 AAA and stands 6'0" tall.
