Scouting Notes from Co-Director of Scouting, Devin Brown
Braxton Ross:
Braxton is a 200ft player that competes all over the ice and plays in every situation. His consistency stood out to our staff, and he possesses a hockey IQ which is evident with his positioning and awareness with and without the puck. Braxton drives hard through checks making his way to the net. In addition, he demonstrates poise and creativity with the puck, finding open teammates with high percentage passes. Braxton's strong work ethic and ability to contribute in all three zones is something our organization covets. Welcome to the Otters organization Braxton.
Chase Pirtle
Chase is a big, strong, power winger who skates well. He was very productive while playing against older players last season. Chase loves to have the puck on his stick and displays good vision with the puck. He has the potential to develop into a skilled power forward in the OHL. Welcome to the Otters Organization, Chase.
Ryan Harvey
Ryan is a complete defenseman with a high IQ, great natural instincts, and can contribute on both sides of the puck. He was the top point producer in the ETA amongst defenseman and was a plus 29. He ran the PP and PK during his time in Ajax. Ryan looks after the defensive zone effectively, keeping opponents to the outside, and demonstrates a strong stick and solid gap control. In addition, Ryan reflects an ability to make plays quickly and consistently. He does everything really well and plays with a ton of confidence. Welcome to the Otters organization Ryan
JJ (John) Franceschetti
JJ demonstrates a strong work ethic, and opponents are always aware of when he is on the ice. He is hard to play against, is tough as nails, and plays with pace. His energy and high-end speed are very intriguing to us. In addition, JJ demonstrates an ability to find open ice, capitalize on his opportunity, and contribute offensively. Welcome to the Otters organization JJ.
Dylan Edwards
Dylan possesses high-end skills and is one of the hardest-working players in the draft. He is a tricky player for opponents to face since he threatens to put points on the board and keeps his engine running high throughout the entire game. In addition, he is an elusive skater and is very shifty. Welcome to the Otters organization Dylan.
Seamus Lockhart
Seamus is a physical, two-way defenseman that demonstrates high athleticism and competes. He holds opponents accountable, battling hard in corners, along the walls, and in front of the net. There is no free parking in the defensive zone when Seamus is on the ice. In addition, he makes a crisp first pass and gets pucks out of the defensive zone while under pressure. Seamus is not afraid to chip in offensively but does not sacrifice one area to succeed in another. Welcome to the Otters organization Seamus.
