Hartford Wolf Pack News Release

The Wolf Pack (10-12-2-0, 22 pts., .458 pts. percentage) had a solid weekend against three teams ahead of them in the Atlantic Division standings, winning two out of three games. On Friday night at home against Hershey, the Wolf Pack gave up a power-play goal to tie the game with 43 seconds left in regulation, but then recovered to win 4-3 in a shootout. Adam Tambellini had the shootout winner in that game, and Mackenzie Skapski made 33 saves in regulation and overtime. The Wolf Pack then headed to Wilkes-Barre and knocked off the AHL-leading Penguins Saturday night, 3-1. Former Penguin Jayson Megna had a goal and an assist against his old team in that game, and Marek Hrivik chipped in two assists. The Wolf Pack were unable to complete a sweep of the weekend Sunday in Bridgeport, however, as the Sound Tigers' Joe Whitney struck for his second hat trick in as many games against the Wolf Pack, leading Bridgeport to a 4-2 win. Brian Gibbons and Ryan Graves scored for the Pack in Sunday's contest, and Chris McCarthy had his first career multiple-point game in the AHL with two assists.

This week:

It's a second consecutive three-game weekend for the Wolf Pack, including the club's first two visits of the year to Providence. The Pack travel to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence on Friday night for a 7:05 PM game with the Bruins, and then return to the XL Center Saturday night to host Bridgeport, on "Star Wars Night" (7:00). The weekend finishes with the Wolf Pack back in Providence Sunday, for a game that faces off at 3:05.

Friday, December 11 at the Providence Bruins (Boston) at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, 7:05 PM

- The Bruins (8-10-4-1, 21 pts., .457) have won four straight games, to climb to within one percentage point of the seventh-place Wolf Pack in the Atlantic Division.

- This is the third meeting of the season between the Wolf Pack and Providence, and the Pack have posted home overtime wins in both of the first two, 4-3 on October 14 and 2-1 on Halloween Night. Last year the Wolf Pack split a pair of visits to the Dunkin' Donuts Center, falling 4-1 on November 21 and posting a 4-1 victory April 12.

- Seth Griffith, who is the Bruins' second-leading point-scorer with 7-8-15 in 16 games, had two goals and two assists in a 6-1 Providence victory Sunday at home over Springfield.

Saturday, December 12 vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Islanders) at XL Center, 7:00 PM

- This is "Star Wars Night" at the XL Center. Fans can hang out with all of their favorite Star Wars characters, and win some exciting Star Wars prizes.

- The Sound Tigers make their first of five visits to Hartford on this night, after defeating the Wolf Pack three times in Bridgeport. Last season the Pack were 3-1-1-0 in home action against their in-state adversaries.

- Bridgeport scoring leader Joe Whitney moved up to second in the AHL in point-scoring with his hat trick against the Wolf Pack Sunday, his second three-goal outing against Hartford in the last two games between the two teams. Whitney now has 11-15-26 in 22 games on the year.

- Sunday's victory over the Wolf Pack snapped a three-game losing streak for the Sound Tigers and was only their second win in the last seven games. They are still six games over .500, though, at 15-9-1-0 (31 pts., .620), and in third place in the Atlantic Division.
