The Shooting Gallery

The Stockton Heat have really peppered opposing netminders with pucks this year as they lead the AHL with nearly 36 shots per game.

In total the Heat have outshot opponents 12 of 17 games this season. The most shots the Heat have taken in a game was 53 back on November 21 against San Jose at home, however the Heat have launched 40 or more shots on five occasions including both games last week to kick off December.

The Heat have shot 35 or more times during 8 games this season.

Freddie Hamilton leads the Heat with 51 shots on goal followed closely by Drew Shore (49) and Kenny Agostino (48). The best shooting percentage belongs to rookie defenseman Oliver Kylington who has scored on 17.6% of his 17 shots. Right behind him though is Turner Elson who's scored on 17.5% of his 40 shots.

Agostino Breaks Out Big

Kenny Agostino is back on track offensively after a big week against the San Jose Barracuda and the San Diego Gulls.

After going scoreless in three games, the playmaking winger got back on the board with two goals against the Barracuda on the road and added a goal and an assist against the Gulls at home on Saturday bringing his weekly total to 3 goals and an assist.

The Yale grad now leads the Stockton Heat with five multi-point efforts on the season. Due to his big week Agostino now is second on the team in points with 12, two points behind Freddie Hamilton's team leading 14.

Hamilton, Hathaway and Agostino Leading the Offense

Since Markus Granlund's recall to the Calgary Flames on November 26, the Heat have played four games with the top line as Freddie Hamilton centering Garnet Hathaway and Kenny Agostino.

From the above blurb, you could probably summarize that this line has done a pretty good job recently, but in the four games the trio has been paired together, they have combined for 16 points in four games.

Both Hamilton and Hathaway have scored 2 goals and have added 4 assists for 6 points in their last four games while Agostino has contributed 3 goals and an assist during that time span.

The trio will look to continue their momentum into San Antonio and Texas this week. Against San Antonio Hamilton leads the trio with 3 points (2GP 1-2-3) followed by Agostino with 2 points (2GP 0-2-2) and Hathaway with one (2GP 1-0-1) while all three have a point against the Stars this season (Hamilton and Hathaway with goals, Agostino with an assist).

However this will be the first time that the trio should play on a line together against the Texas-based rivals.

Last Trip to the Lone Star State

It's crazy to think that three months into the season the Heat are facing their final trip to play the San Antonio Rampage and Texas Stars, but that is exactly what will happen this week.

While the California-based Pacific Division teams will play each other 12 times, the Texas-based teams play the California-based teams just six times, three in Texas and three in California.

So far this season the Heat have a 0-1-0-1 record against the San Antonio Rampage in two games at the AT&T Center this season while the team has gone a perfect 2-0-0 (including a Jon Gillies shutout) at the Cedar Park Center this season.

Heat Heading Outdoors in just over a Week

In just under two weeks, the Stockton Heat and Bakersfield Condors will head outdoors to play a regular season game worth 2 points in the standings at the home of the Sacramento River Cats, Raley Field, in West Sacramento, California.

Tickets are still available for this once in a lifetime event happening in your backyard! Visit Ticketmaster.com to purchase your seats now or visit GSHockeyRush.com for more information about the game.

Check out a few outdoor game veterans in Hunter Smith, Derek Grant and Kenney Morrison talk about the experience of playing outdoors and the challenges the players will face when they play in the elements. Stay tuned for more videos featuring the Heat players on StocktonHeat.com!
