The Wolf Pack kick off their tenth-anniversary 2006-07 season in gala style this Saturday night, October 7th at the Hartford Civic Center against their I-91 rivals the Springfield Falcons (7:00 face-off). The night will feature a pre-game block party on Hartford's Trumbull Street (5:00 - 7:00 PM), and guests of honor will be the Wolf Pack's first head coach, E.J. McGuire, and fan favorite P.J. Stock, who will drop the ceremonial first puck. Also, all fans will receive a free magnetic season schedule, sponsored by the Hartford and the first 5,000 fans will receive a special 10th Anniversary commemorative ticket giveaway sponsored by Verizon. The night will feature a pre-game ceremony highlighted by a retrospective game-opening video and a laser and pyrotechnics show.
The Pack played a four-game preseason slate this past week and finished unbeaten in regulation at 3-0-1-0. After a 4-3 overtime loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in Danbury, CT on Tuesday, the Wolf Pack triumphed over the Worcester Sharks by a 4-1 score in Simsbury, CT on Thursday, downed the Springfield Falcons 5-3 at Springfield Friday, and turned the tables on the Sound Tigers by that same score in Cromwell, CT on Sunday.
This week:
The Wolf Pack have only one game on the schedule this week, the home opener Saturday night against Springfield. Since losing their first-ever game, the Pack are 7-0-1 in season-opening contests.
Saturday, October 7th - Wolf Pack 10th Anniversary Opening Night Pre-Game Block Party, Trumbull Street (in front of the Civic Center), 5:00-7:00 PM Wolf Pack fans and Hartford residents are invited out for a pre-game block party to kick off the start of the Wolf Pack's special 10th anniversary season. The party will take place on Trumbull Street in front of the Civic Center from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and will feature live music from the popular Hartford band Tenet, inflatables, food, drinks, contests, giveaways, and more. Additionally, the popular TD Banknorth Fanfest will be located outside with face painters, clowns, an inflatable hockey shot game and the popular Money Machine.

Last season the Falcons, the top affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, finished the year 28-43-3-6 for 65 points and in sixth place in the Atlantic Division. After two seasons under Dirk Graham, the Falcons are now coached by former New York Islanders head coach Steve Stirling. Among the players assigned to the Falcons by Tampa Bay is 17th-year pro and former Hartford Whalers goaltender Sean Burke. The Wolf Pack compiled a 7-2-1-0 against their Massachusetts neighbors last season. The Pack will welcome back the franchise's first head coach, E.J. McGuire, and one of the most popular players in team history, P.J. Stock, to drop the ceremonial first puck.
